CABINET OFFICE: animating social investment

The Centre for Public Impact is a not-for-profit foundation, funded by The Boston Consulting Group, dedicated to improving the positive impact of governments

THE TASK

The Cabinet Office came to us with a question: “How can we explain social investment to an audience that’s never heard of it?”

OUR SOLUTION

After a number of discussions, our creatives settled on an animation as the best way of bringing the rather complicated concept of social investment to the masses. Having toyed with various styles and approaches, the team decided the people best equipped to explain how social investment works are social entrepreneurs who’ve received it! The creation of the film then involved interviewing a number of entrepreneurs, and creating an animated character for each. We cut these characters together to form a consistent narrative, and let the people tell their own stories. The film has been promoted through the Cabinet Office’s own online channels and was tweeted by the Prime Minister.
